I promised Manhamana to write about my Sindy dolls. It just so happened, that a few other dolly bloggers wrote recently on the same subject. In short – Sindy is one of the world’s most popular fashion dolls, produced in England by the Pedigree company, in her most popular years. In the late 1980s production was taken over by Hasbro, where Sindy changed so much, she was almost unrecognisable.
Umówiłam się z Manhamaną, że napiszę dzisiaj o moich lalkach Sindy. Tak się złożyło, że kilkoro innych blogowiczów też pisało ostatnio na ten sam temat. Pokrótce – Sindy to jedna z najpopularniejszych na świecie “fashion dolls”, produkowana w Anglii przez firmę Pedigree, w którym to wcieleniu jest najbardziej popularna. W późnych latach 80. produkcję przejęła firma Hasbro, gdzie Sindy zmieniła się nie do poznania.

My own collection is a bit chaotic – I had to fight with myself not to start a whole Sindy collection! What I have is a result of a plan I made using my brain, rather than my dolly soul 
to put it simply, I buy only my favourite outfits, but only when I see them online for really good prices. Once upon a time this little group was bigger, but I had to part with a few dolls. I kept only the favourites, and I have three more waiting for a reroot and new clothes stashed away in the special trunk. So, I buy a favourite outfit, and then I buy a doll to wear it. For this reason I’m not too interested in identifying the dolls. By the way, Sindy’s outfits are fantastic, with enormous selection, beautifully made, and of very good quality (in this case they are better than Fleur’s!).
Moja kolekcja jest nieco chaotyczna – musiałam nieźle powalczyć sama z sobą, żeby nie zacząć całej nowej kolekcji Sindy! To co mam jest rezultatem planu w który włączyłam mózg, zamiast duszy lalkowej mówiąc w skrócie, kupuję tylko moje ulubione ubranka, ale tylko gdy widzę je w internecie po okazyjnych cenach. Kiedyś moja grupka Sindy była większa, ale musiałam rozstać się z kilkoma z nich. Zostały mi te ulubione, oraz trzy kolejne czekające na reroot i ubranka ze specjalnego kuferka. A więc kupuję ulubione ubranko, do którego następnie dokupuję lalkę. Z tego powodu nie interesuje mnie zbyt identyfikacja samych lalek. Swoją drogą, ubranka Sindy są wspaniałe, w bardzo dużym asortymencie, ślicznie uszyte, oraz bardzo dobrej jakości (pod tym względem są lepsze niż ubranka Fleur!).

Although Pedigree Sindy is my favourite, I quite like the Supercool Sindy’s face. Dolls of this era also have very good quality hair.
Chociaż Sindy od Pedigree jest moja ulubiona, jednak twarz Supercool Sindy bardzo mi się podoba. Lalki z tej ery mają też włosy dobrego gatunku.

Like any popular self-respecting doll, Sindy had many clones. One of the best known is Linda, who can be identified by the grooves in her feet. Believe me, Linda is quite photogenic, but in real life she is a bit of a disappointment, because you can see how poorly she is made in comparison to Sindy. Still, Linda is quite popular among Sindy and clones collectors.
Jak każda popularna szanująca się lalka, Sindy miała też mnóstwo klonów. Jednym z najlepiej znanych jest Linda, którą można poznać po charakterystycznych wgłębieniach w stopach. Uwierzcie mi, Linda jest nawet fotogeniczna, ale “na żywo” wypada bardzo kiepsko, bo wyraźnie widać jak niedbale jest zrobiona, w porównaniu do Sindy. Jednak Linda cieszy się dosyć dużą popularnością wśród kolekcjonerów Sindy i jej klonów.
The biggest compliments should be given to the Pedigree company for the attention to detail in almost everything, including outfit boxes. Fleur and Barbie boxes are of course pretty and decorated with photographs. I kept a box from the Rainy Days outfit. Just look at this beautiful picture in front of the box. It’s a real photograph of Sindy with the background drawn in, Sindy’s standing in the rain next to some London bus stop (I can tell by the famous Underground sign, red circle and line 
), and an artist took care of the rest beautifully! This is exactly what the collectors miss today – this attention to details.
Największe pochwały należą się firmie Pedigree za staranność, jaką włożyli w produkcję prawie wszystkiego, włącznie z pudełkami do ubranek. Pudełka Fleur lub Barbie są oczywiście ładne i zazwyczaj ozdobione fotografiami. Zatrzymałam sobie pudełko od ubranka Rainy Days. Popatrzcie tylko na ten piękny rysunek z przodu pudełka. Jest to prawdziwe zdjęcie Sindy z dorysowanym tłem, Sindy stoi sobie w deszczu przy jakimś londyńskim przystanku autobusowym (ten charakterystyczny symbol czerwonego kółka i kreski to przecież Underground ), a jakiś artysta postarał się o resztę mistrzowsko! To jest właśnie dbałość o detale za którą nostalgicznie tęsknią kolekcjonerzy.
The back of the box shows a picture of outfits also available at the time. How can anyone resist Sindy!
Z tyłu pudełka jest zdjęcie innych ubranek dostępnych w tym samym czasie. I jak tu nie stracić dla Sindy głowę!
